FACT’s Summer Highlights

We hope you’re enjoying the summer — and all the fresh, local flavors it brings! At Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT), we’ve been busy putting together our Summer FACT Sheets to help you make the most of the season while supporting healthy farms, animals, and communities.

This season’s updates showcase our ongoing commitment to humane farming, farmer support, and safer food systems for all.  In this edition, you will also meet FACT’s newest Board members: Barbara Fontaine and Dave Plumer. Looking Ahead: FACT’s Humane Farming Program in 2025

Our three-member Humane Farming Team has been on a roll, launching exciting new initiatives and strengthening existing ones.

• Pasture Perspectives — our new video series — brings you an inside look at how farmers across the country are putting humane farming into practice, while navigating the unique challenges faced by small livestock and poultry producers.

• Our Mentorship Program continues to provide invaluable one-on-one support to farmers nationwide. This year, we have made some key updates to make the experience even more impactful.

Pushing for Change: Taking on the Superbug Threat

FACT’s Safe & Healthy Food Program has been actively advocating for stronger protections against dangerous pathogens and the misuse of antibiotics in industrial animal agriculture.

Recently, we joined our allies in sending letters to the FDA and HHS, urging them to take action against the overuse of antibiotics — a major driver of antibiotic resistance that threatens both animal and human health.

We also released a new report exposing the FDA’s failure to restrict harmful Salmonella in livestock and poultry feed, despite the well-documented risks it poses to both animals and people.
