Looking Ahead to FACT’s 2025/2026 Educate a Farmer Webinar Season

By Samantha Gasson, FACT’s Humane Farming Director

One of the many things I love about my job here at FACT is the variety of our programming, we truly do have something for everyone at most stages of their farming journey. But there is one program I look forward to every summer, our Educate a Farmer webinar series.

I start thinking about potential sessions as early as February when I catch a glimpse of the end of grant season on the horizon. This grows and expands until I reach full obsession in July. My mind starts viewing every interaction with an eye to the upcoming webinar season. It takes over my life, everyone has the potential to present an interesting webinar in my mind. I’m a menace.

A couple of months ago, I took an Animal Welfare Officer training through A Greener World (an amazing experience) and was lucky enough to sit next to one of my favorite people, Lee Menius, with NC Choices. We had barely finished introductory pleasantries before I asked if he would be willing to do a presentation on meat quality as it relates to humane handling. He was game and will be presenting Taking Your Animals Across the Finish Line on December 9th, it is sure to be a gem. No one is immune.

While attending a recent Global Animal Partnership (GAP, an animal welfare certifying agency usually found at Whole Foods) board meeting I looked around the virtual room and saw multiple potential webinars. One, Poultry with Purpose: The Humane Benefits of Slower Growing Breeds, was presented on September 9th and can be found in our webinar archive. The other one is still in the works, but I should be able to announce it very soon! I truly believe everyone has a webinar in them, it’s a matter of time before I ferret it out.

If you’re a humane farmer, humane curious, or generally interested in livestock and poultry farming, you will find some gems in our extensive free webinar collection.

I hope you’ll join us for what is sure to be an educational and inspiring 2025/2026 season of webinars. You can see what we have coming up on our webinar page.
